South Africa: take a walk in Bo-Kaap in Cape town


Have you heard about Bo-Kaap in Cape Town?

It’s an area in Cape Town that dates back to the 18th century. It’s full of colorful houses (and full of tourists in normal times as the place is highly “instagrammable” ?).

It’s really nice to take a walk there, but beware and stay on the main roads, this is South Africa, Safety first!

It used to be inhabited by slaves that were brought in from Malaysia, Indonesia and other parts of Africa. They were renting the houses that all had to be white. When the rule was waved and they were able to buy the houses, they started painting them in all kinds of colors, as a sign of freedom.
