You think you’ve seen them all, those monasteries in Georgia, until you get to the Gelati monastery in Kutaisi in the Imereti province.

Outside, it looks like another cute monastery in Georgia. But inside.. INSIDE.. it’s a masterpiece. Its murals and mosaics are amazingly well preserved, and date back from the 12th to the 17th century. What a lovely stop in Georgia!

The Gelati Monastery is a UNESCO world heritage site.
