Iceland: spot wild reindeers in the East of the Country

Did you know there are wild reindeers in Iceland? well I didn’t know either, until I saw some. What a surprise to see them on the side of the road!!!

They’ve been imported there in the 18th century, they were supposed to be domesticated, but that has been a failure, so nowadays, they run free!

They seem to be seen normally in the Eastern region of the country, and I have seen a herd not very far from the Jökulsárlón glacier. So if you are on the road in Iceland, watch around you!

Some pictures of those wild reindeers in Iceland:

  1. I haven’t had your luck, I haven’t seen any, but it’s nice to know that this is possible.
