Romania: visit a medieval citadel in Rasnov

In the heart of Transylvania, you can visit a medieval fortress in Rasnov, between Bran and Brasov.  The views from there are so beautiful!

It is a national monument that was built as a defense system for Transylvanian villages against Tartar and Turkish hordes during the 13th and 14th centuries, and it is seen to be one of the most well preserved rural Citadels in Romania. The legend says there is a treasure buried in the well of the citadel… but no one found it so far…

  1. I have not yet been to Romania, the last country in the Union that I miss, but I believe that there are many castles and fortresses, traces of a turbulent past. I like the contrast between the halberdier in costume and the refrigerated bottles.

  2. Sounds like a great trip. Will have to add to my bucketlist
