Uganda: do not miss the source of the great river Nile in Jinja

The great river Nile, the longest river in the world, is mostly known for going through Egypt (who hasn’t heard about doing a cruise on the Nile there?). Indeed, it is longer than the Amazon river!

It actually takes its source in Jinja, Uganda.

This point is where the British explorer John Hanning Speke discovered the source of the Nile in 1858. He mapped the lake which was named in honor of the Queen. The river begins to flow from Lake Victoria (Africa’s biggest lake), and it takes the water 3 months to complete its journey of 6695kms (4160 miles) all the way to the Meditteranean sea.

That was a great relaxing stop while in Uganda!
